چکیده

Extensive experimental results are presented on the multi-scale phase modulation phenomena observed in colossal magnetoresistance manganites. Two key types of phase inhomogeneities directly relevant to the colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) are discussed. The first type involves micrometer-scale coexistence of structurally and electronically different phases. We present extensive experimental data for a prototypical system exhibiting such a phase coexistence, (La,Pr)5/8Ca3/8MnO3. These data reveal that percolative transport phenomena play the key role in the metal-insulator transition in this system, and are largely responsible for the significant magnitude of the magnetoresistance. The phase

First order colossal magnetoresistance transitions in the two-orbital model for manganites.

Large-scale Monte Carlo simulation results for the two-orbital model for manganites, including Jahn-Teller lattice distortions, are presented here. At hole density x=1/4 and in the vicinity of the region of competition between the ferromagnetic metallic and spin-charge-orbital ordered insulating phases, the colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) phenomenon is observed with a magnetoresistance ratio ∼...

Nanoscale Phase Separation in Colossal Magnetoresistance Materials: Lessons for the Cuprates? ⋆

A recent vast experimental and theoretical effort in manganites has shown that the colossal magnetoresistance effect can be understood based on the competition of charge-ordered and ferromagnetic phases. The general aspects of the theoretical description appear to be valid for any compound with intrinsic phase competition. In high temperature superconductors, recent experiments have shown the e...

خواص ساختاری، الکتریکی و مغناطیسی منگنایتLa1-xCaxMnO3

Manganites are considered as subbranches of condensed matter physics with a great wealth of physical mechanisms. In this investigation we have studied the structural, electrical and magnetic properties of a series of La1-xCaxMnO3   manganite with x=0.1, 0.2, …,0.5. We observed that the crystal structure of this manganite, with small dopping, at room temperature is orthorhombic and by increasi...

Competing ferromagnetic and charge-ordered states in models for manganites: the origin of the colossal magnetoresistance effect.

The one-orbital model for manganites with cooperative phonons and superexchange coupling JAF is investigated via large-scale Monte Carlo simulations. The results for two orbitals are also briefly discussed. Focusing on the electron density n=0.75, a regime of competition between ferromagnetic metallic and charge-ordered (CO) insulating states is identified. In the vicinity of the associated bic...

Colossal magnetoresistance in manganites as a multicritical phenomenon.

The colossal magnetoresistance in manganites AMnO3 is studied from the viewpoint of multicritical phenomena. To understand the complicated interplay of various phases, we study the Ginzburg-Landau theory in terms of both the mean-field approximation and the renormalization-group analysis for comparison with the observed phase diagram. Several novel features, such as the first-order ferromagneti...
